By Roland Santana

Various sites also offer software that allows you to transfer the motion picture to a disc so that you can view it on your TV set. Watching movies while cuddled up on the couch in front of your TV is much more appealing than sitting in front of a computer monitor. Make sure that the website provides that if it is crucial to you. Below are some of the best motion pictures of all time. Select a wonderful movie to watch tonight.

The Night of the Iguana - Trudging storyline based on Tennessee Williams play. Recovered alcoholic clergyman Burton, a bus-journey guide in Mexico, becomes involved with Kerr, Gardner, and Lyon. Dorothy Jeakins won an Oscar for her costumes. Cast includes Richard Burton, Deborah Kerr, Ava Gardner, Sue Lyon, Skip Ward, Grayson Chamber, and Cyril Delevanti. (118 minutes, 1964)

The Defiant - A fascinating account of 2 escaped convicts, one black and one white who are chained together as they escape from the penitentiary in the South. Exceptional performances by Williams and Chaney as individuals they meet during the voyage. Academy Prize for screenplay by Harold Jacob Smith and Nathan E. Cast includes Tony Curtis, Sidney Poitier, Theodore Bike, Charles McGraw, Carnie Williams, and Lon Chaney, Jr. (97 minutes, 1958)

Basic - While things go awry throughout an armed forces work out, base captain Daly brings in Travolta, the best interrogator he ever had, to query the surviving members of the squad, whose stories don't add up. In reality a whodunit, this film keeps us guessing, as a good conspiracy should. Cast includes John Travolta, Connie Nielsen, Samuel L. Jackson, Giovanni Ribisi, Tim Daly, Roselyn Sanchez, and Harry Connick. (2003 minutes, 1995)

Sugar Town - Enjoyable mosaic of LA life characterizing a handful of characters whose lives dovetail - a musician wannabe who will do anything to get ahead, an uptight lone lady who allures the wrong men like a magnet, and a band made up of cleaned-up '80s rock stars, to name a few. Made on a shoestring, although intelligent and well recognized; superb cast comprises a number of actual musicians. Cast includes Ally Sheedy, Rosanna Arquette, John Taylor, Jade Gordon, Michael Des Barres, Lucinda Jenney, and Martin Kemp. (92 minutes, 1999)

Lunatics and Lovers - Aristocrat Mastroianni has a imaginary spouse; an organ grinder persuades hooker Mori to "impersonate" her. While it is not stupid, it's unexciting. Cast includes Marcello Mastroianni, Claudia Mori, Lino Morelli, Flora Carabella, and Adriano Celentano. (93 minutes, 1976)

Jerry Maguire - Jerry is an agent for a top Sports Management group. When he is fired, he expects his client to come along with him as he sets out on his own. All of a sudden Jerry realizes that he has no true friends in this cutthroat, dog eat dog, business. Down to one client and one assistant, Jerry fights to build himself a business.

The Last Time I Saw Archie - Webb's solitary try at comedy is less stupid than some of his more serious films; a shame, since William Bowers' script-based on his own Army experiences had authentic potential, and Mitchum nicely underplays as the con guy. By the way, the genuine Archie Chamber sued for invasion of privacy. Cast includes Robert Mitchum, Jack Webb, Martha Hyer, France Nuyen, Louis Nye, Richard Arlen, Don Tangles, Joe Flynn, and Robert Strauss. (98 minutes, 1961)
