New 2011 Open Enrollment For Children Announced

The market for individual health insurance will be two special open enrollment periods for children this year. Parents who wish to add their children to their health plans or purchase plans can only do children from March 30 to April 15, 2011 and September 15 to October 31, 2011.

Commissioner Kreidler created open enrollment periods by an agreement announced today. The market for individual health insurance for people who lack access to health insurance funded by employers.

New authority to protect consumers, according to the Federal Affordable Care Act preventing insurers from denying health coverage to children with pre-existing. However, the specific open enrollment periods are allowed.

During open enrollment periods, children under 19 can not be excluded from health insurance because of pre-existing condition. People who seek protection for their children outside of the registration dates may apply to the Washington State Health Insurance Pool (WSHIP), or if they qualify, the new pre-existing condition map of Insurance (PCP-WA). To enroll in the PCP-WA, it must have been insured for at least six months and have a preexisting medical condition.

Exceptions where parents can seek individual coverage for their children whenever include birth or adoption of a child or a child or parent:

• to be eligible for a program of state.

• Elimination of coverage because of divorce.

• to lose coverage by the employer.

• Move and their implementation is not available where they live.

In 2014, when the health reforms in full force, never ages are excluded from insurance because of pre-existing condition.
